Description:Position SummaryWe are looking for a knowledgeable and proactive Safety Specialist with experience in gas leak detection, response, and mitigation to join our team in Seattle, WA. This role plays a vital part in maintaining compliance, safeguarding employees, and reducing risk across our field operations. The ideal candidate is well-versed in safety protocols, federal and state regulations, and emergency response practices related to hazardous gases.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support safety programs related to natural gas detection, control, and leak mitigation.
  
• Conduct field inspections, audits, and risk assessments in gas-exposed environments.
  
• Respond to gas leak incidents, oversee containment procedures, and ensure timely communication with emergency services.
  
• Investigate incidents and near-misses, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to field personnel and new hires.
  
• Maintain OSHA, DOT, and local compliance documentation and reporting.
  
• Collaborate with field crews and management to promote a strong safety culture.
  
• Assist in the development of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and site-specific safety plans.
  Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
    
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in safety roles focused on gas utilities or oil & gas sectors.
    
  • Demonstrated experience with gas leak detection and emergency response is required.
    
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT PHMSA, and Washington state safety regulations.
    
  • Current certifications such as OSHA 30, HAZWOPER, or CSP preferred.
    
  • Strong communication skills and ability to train others effectively.
    
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
    Work Conditions
    • Field and office environment; regular travel to sites in and around Seattle.
      
    • Ability to work in various weather conditions and respond to emergency situations when needed.
      
    • May involve use of PPE and gas detection instruments.
