Description DSHS Security Guard 2 Get your foot in the door with DSHS as a Security Guard, at Western State Hospital with these on-call job opportunities. We're seeking people who can quickly adapt to their environment and have the ability to proactively manage situations, and be an effective team member. You'll provide protection and security within the facility, including immediate grounds, residents, staff, and visitors to Western State Hospital. You'll patrol, inspect, and secure the property. Some of what you'll do:Provide 24-hour security coverage for patients admitted to community hospitals; escort visitorsOperate a patrol vehicle; patrol hospital grounds to ensure the safety and security of the staff, patients, property, and the community; patrol a designated area or unitActively engage with residents as appropriate to promote and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment, which could include operating restraint systems in accordance with policy and proceduresGather information to complete Security Incident ReportsSearch for and return patients to the hospitals that are not authorized to leave campusOperate electronic doors, surveillance equipment, two-way radio, and telephoneEnsure accountability of equipment, keys, ID badge, gate money, and other controlled items We're looking for professionals that have:Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsHighly motivated individuals with demonstrated observation skillsEffective management of working conditions and emergent situationsAbility to use handheld radiosExperience using Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel-based software products Applicants with a valid driver's license and one of the following should apply:One year experience as a Security Guard 1High school diploma or GED AND two years of experience in areas of work, such as security guard, correctional officer, store investigations, police officer, police reserve officer, military police, or other law enforcement workA certificate of completion in the police or reserve police academy or military training program AND one year of experience in areas of work, such as security guard, correctional officer, store investigations, police officer, police reserve officer, military police, or other law enforcement work.
