Physician Assistant | Surgery - General/Other Location: Tacoma, WA Employer: VieMed Healthcare Staffing Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Shift Information: Rotating Start Date: ASAP About the Position Join Our Team as a Locum Physician Assistant (PA) - Surgery – Cardiothoracic in Tacoma, WA Overview: St. Joseph Medical Center is actively seeking experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistants to provide vital support in a busy inpatient setting. This urgent need offers a unique opportunity to work alongside a skilled team, assisting with complex cardiac and thoracic procedures including coronary artery bypass, valve surgeries, robotic surgeries, and minimally invasive techniques. Required Skills: Valid Physician Assistant license in Washington State Prior experience assisting in cardiothoracic surgeries and ICU management Proficiency in pre- and post-operative patient evaluations Ability to assist in OR first assists and emergent procedures Strong understanding of thoracic and cardiac procedures, including robotic and minimally invasive techniques Excellent communication and teamwork skills Competency with EPIC EMR system Nice to Have Skills: Experience with robotic-assisted thoracic surgeries, particularly VATS and DaVinci Robotics Additional training or certification in thoracic or cardiac procedures Ability to perform bedside procedures such as chest tube insertions and arterial line placements Bilingual abilities or additional language fluency Preferred Education and Experience: NCCPA certification with at least 2 years of cardiothoracic surgery experience Prior experience working with a multidisciplinary surgical team Familiarity with inpatient ICU and step-down management Other Requirements: Availability to work 3-4 days in a typical Monday-Friday schedule, with on-call duties including nights and weekends Willingness to carry a pager and respond to emergent cases during scheduled call hours Credentialing completed within 90 days; application submitted within 10 days of initiation Flexibility to work varied hours, including overnight and weekend shifts Ability to work in both inpatient and outpatient settings, managing 20 adult patients daily This position offers competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits, including weekly pay via direct deposit, paid sick leave, and licensure/certification reimbursements.
