Job Description Responsibilities Franciscan Medical Group, as
part of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, is currently seeking a
full-time Multidisciplinary Technologist for the Franciscan Prompt
Clinic in Tacoma, WA. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a
team-based environment with a dedicated patient-centered care team.
No nights required. Flexible scheduling including but not limited
to 12 shifts available. Occasional holidays and weekends may be
requested. Job Summary: This job is responsible for preparing and
operating radiographic imaging equipment to perform patient exams
and related procedures that safely capture specific, clear and
undistorted images to aid in patient diagnosis. Work is performed
in accordance with physician orders and under strict
safety/regulatory/license departmental standards and protocols. An
incumbent also performs basic patient care/support functions under
the direction of a provider and within scope of licensure,
including obtaining/recording vital signs/patient information and
performing point-of-care testing procedures. Work further includes:
1) explaining procedures and preparing patients for exam; 2)
positioning patients correctly and effectively, 3) recording the
requested diagnostic images; 4) sending results to physician for
evaluation and diagnosis; 5) maintaining safe radiation levels at
all times to minimize exposure to patient, self and others; and 6)
assuring radiographic equipment in in good working order and
reporting malfunctions per established procedures. Work requires
knowledge of standards, procedures and protocols relating to
radiographic examination and radiation safety/protection as well as
aseptic technique and physics, anatomy and related medical
terminology. Current knowledge of the application/operation/quality
control/maintenance of imaging equipment and related devices is
also required. Essential Duties: - Prepares equipment for imaging
tests, based on physicians’ orders and in accordance with
department safeguards and protocols to ensure high quality results.
- Verifies proper operation of equipment prior to use; sets imaging
parameters for procedure; performs computer processing and displays
images in accordance with internal protocols. - Utilizes
equipment/accessories and employs techniques/procedures to ensure
that results are consistent. - Selects appropriate protocols to
tailor scans of each patient while producing superior image
quality. - Ensures that sufficient supplies are on hand to perform
procedures; prepares for and cleans up after examinations. -
Rooms/prepares patient and performs Radiology procedures per
established protocols. - Greets, receives and identifies patient;
records vital signs, including height, weight, allergies, current
medications and presenting problems. - Verifies preparation
procedures are proper and in order; explains procedures to patients
and responds to questions; comforts and protects the patient, self
and others from unnecessary radiation by following established
policy, procedures and prescribed safety standards; documents
methods per department requirements. - Regularly performs basic
nursing functions in regard to patient care; responds to emergency
situations consistent with scope of authority. - Observes patient
during procedures and reports any unusual occurrences or changes in
patient’s condition per established procedures. - Provides patient
mobility assistance as needed; assists with patient transport and
transfer. - Performs basic patient care/support functions under the
provider direction and within scope of licensure; demonstrates
competency in the delivery of care and clinical techniques in
accordance with established standards. - Performs basic patient
care activities, including: - Basic CPR, visual acuity, - Wound
care, including suture set-up - Orthopedic splinting - EKGs - Point
of Care testing - Assisting with eye and ear irrigation - Blood
glucose checks and throat swab specimen collection - Informs
patients of lab results, and mails reports to patients, under the
supervision of provider. - Responds appropriately to emergency
situations. - Maintains records, documentation and logs as required
by department protocols and licensure requirements. - Documents, in
the electronic medical record, medical visits/procedures performed
by healthcare providers in accordance with established procedures;
maintains daily records of exams. - Assists in making observations,
gathering data and identifying patient care needs. - Prepares cases
for immediate interpretation; assembles patient's records; prepares
previous cases for physician review. - Prepares hard copies from
multi-format laser images; transfers images to magnetic tape for
archival and storage. - Performs incidental general office duties
to include; answering phone; scheduling; filing; maintaining
patient records; ordering supplies. - Participates in the ordering
and inventorying of equipment and supplies. - Assists with patient
flow needs. Cultural Sensitivity and Competence: Demonstrates
proper use of communication tools/materials for effective
communication and understands how the culture(s) of patient
populations can affect communication, collaboration and the
provision of care, treatment and services. Patient Population
Served: Demonstrates knowledge and proper skills associated with
the department’s defined specific populations served. Performs
related duties as required. RADTECH Qualifications Education/ Work
Experience: - Graduation from an accredited school of Radiological
Technology, which demonstrates attainment of the requisite job
knowledge skills/abilities. Licensure/Certifications: - American
Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT) (R) - Current State of
Washington licensure as a Radiology Technologist – Certified. -
Current Washington state licensure as Medical Assistant-Registered
(MA-R) within 90 days of hire. - Washington Society of Radiological
Technologist (WSRT) recommended. - Current healthcare provider BLS
